Mindfulness Therapy

The concept of mindfulness originates from the Buddhist philosophy; it is concerned with obtaining emotional balance and acceptance of internal experiences, affective clarity, and the ability to regulate one’s emotions and moods in order to live a healthier life.

It is a concept that has been around for over 250 years but has only in the last few years gained scientific credence.

Mindfulness therapy is concerned with letting go of the past and the negative feelings attached to the past without avoiding the issues. It is not concerned with the future but is focussed on living in the now and the present. There are issues that affect everyone mindfulness says stop, take a look at the broader picture and focus on the now.

It has a wide range of uses and can be used in managing depression, anxiety, stress and allow you to experience more balance on life’s rollercoaster.

“We usually do not look into what is really there in front of us… We spend our energies trying to make ourselves feel better, trying to bury our fears. We are endlessly seeking security. Meanwhile, the world of real experience flows by untouched and untasted.  - Henepola Gunaratana, “Mindfulness in Plain English.”
