Bev HulmeBachelor of Science (Psychology) Bev studied psychology as a mature age student and has had over twenty years of experience in the health industry. Her research thesis (for which she was awarded a high distinction) involved subjective quality of life, friendship and loneliness among people with intellectual disabilities. This project enabled her to identify characteristics and strategies that promote positive outlooks and also how we, as humans, can cultivate and experience happiness and other desirable emotional states. Bev has a special interest in physiological psychology and currently works with people from a wide age range who have alcohol and drug dependence problems. She understands the diverse range of antecedent problems that can lead to drug and alcohol abuse. Bev can address such issues using motivational and cognitive behaviour therapy techniques. Bev also has a strong interest and is experienced in relationship counselling, positive psychology, lifestyle balancing, addressing self-esteem issues, crises counselling, managing depression, stress and anxiety, developmental psychology and vocational counselling (using psychometric testing). |
