Jenny CollierB.Soc.Sc. Jenny is Principal of Clayfield Counselling Services, which she opened in 1999. With Jenny at the helm, Clayfield Counselling Services grew quickly from strength to strength. The University of Queensland now recognises Clayfield Counselling Services as an organization “at the forefront of counselling services in Queensland” (Murray, 2006) and Jenny has been asked to participate in an Industry Reference Group in order to assist UQ to ensure that their Master of Counselling program is relevant to the industry. Jenny has over 25 years experience in the social welfare field, working with a variety of social welfare organisations including child protection, Oncology, the Qld Aids Council, and the Leukaemia Foundation. Jenny feels very strongly about keeping abreast of the latest developments in the counselling and mental health fields and she regularly attends conferences and workshops to ensure she is able to offer her clients the most up to date techniques and information available. Jenny has a particular interest in assisting clients to work through grief and loss. She is also a trained mediator, having completed her Advanced Mediation training with Bond University. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialised technique which has been recognised as being particularly useful to help clients process memories of traumatic incidents. Jenny is a fully trained and qualified EMDR practitioner and has found EMDR particularly useful for clients who are dealing with grief and loss issues or who suffer from post traumatic stress. In recent years, Jenny has completed intensive training in the field of sex therapy and often draws on these skills in client consultations. Jenny is listed on the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) register and she is a member of the Queensland Counsellor’s Association. |
