Frequently Asked Questions
What is a ‘session’?
A session refers to client contact with a qualified counsellor. This is subsequent to the initial appointment process where client information is collected.
Does Telephone Counselling use qualified counsellors?
Yes, qualified psychologists and counsellors are on staff. Please refer to our staff page for more detailed information on our team members.
What does a breach of confidentiality mean?
In some cases, such as when there is an immediate threat to a person’s safety (yours or another person’s), or when there is knowledge of current child abuse our telephone counselling staff will report these matters to the relevant authorities as is required by law. In such a case, the matter requiring reporting will be discussed with the client prior to action being taken.
What is clinical supervision?
It is ‘best practice’ that counsellors receive professional supervision to ensure that a professional and ethical standard is maintained.
This means that there may be occasions when the client’s case is discussed with a professional counsellor qualified and experienced in counselling and supervision.
This person is available to our telephone counselling service counsellors for the purpose of supervision and they willingly comply with the Privacy Act and PACFA Code of Ethics.
